The first Heracles no Eikō game, an ancient Greek-themed JRPG series released on the NES .Toujin Makyou Den: Heracles no Eikou is a role-playing game, published by Data East, released in Japan in 1987.In this game, you play as Heracles (or Hercules, in Latin pronunciation), the famous legendary Greek hero. Starting from Athens and wandering all over ancient Greece (and even the mythical land of the dead), you will have to fight many monsters, including popular characters from Greek mythology such as Talos and Hades, and prove your glory. The game is very similar to the Dragon Warrior series: you fight random enemies in turn-based battles, collect experience and money, and in towns talk to people and buy weapons, armour and items. There is no world map in the game, but a continuous location complete with towns and dungeon areas. Glory of Heracles (ヘラクレスの栄光, Herakuresu no Eikō ) is a Japanese role-playing video game series originally developed and published by Data East and owned by Paon Corporation and Nintendo. The series began in 1987 with Tōjin Makyō Den: Heracles no Eikō , and three sequels were released until 1994 in addition to a portable spin-off game released in 1992. After Data East went bankrupt in 2003, Peacock Corporation and Nintendo acquired the rights to the series, with Peacock and Nintendo co-owning the copyright and Nintendo owning only the trademark, and Nintendo released the final installment in the series, Heracles no Eikō: Tamashii no Shōmei for the Nintendo DS in 2008. None of the games had been released outside of Japan until E3 2009, during which the latest game was announced by Nintendo. as Glory of Heracles .The series is based on the world of Greek mythology, with the Greek hero Heracles as the main character in each game. However, Heracles only serves as the main character in the original game and the Game Boy spin-off, and plays a supporting role in all subsequent games.The Super Smash Bros Ultimate game represented the series in the game’s spirit mode, with Heracles from the original game and the DS game’s player character, named Glory of Heracles Hero, possible to unlock.
